Collaborative Events

SPIE Optics + Photonics concluded on 5 August—scientists and researchers gathered to hear the latest research and technologies for enabling better care of our environment, our communities, and our planet.

Our chapter was represented by the President of the student chapter Viorel Nastasa. He attended both the Leadership Workshop and the lectures related to his research field at the conference. He was also a member of the SPIE IT Committee as a student representative. This conference was also a great opportunity for networking with members from other SPIE student chapters. Here are some photos from these events.

Six memebers of our chapter attended the IV International SPIE Students' Chapters Meeting that took place in Torun, Poland during 14 - 16 May, 2009.

The following presentations were presented at this meeting:

1. Thin films of rare earth magnetic alloys processed by laser and plasma assisted techniques

2. Calibration reproducibility of optical fibers power meters

3. Studies on zirconia thin films deposited by pulsed laser ablation

4. Amyloid fibrils thin films obtained by MAPLE process

5. Morphological properties of thin films deposited by pulsed laser ablation

6. Calibration transfer of laser power in the visible spectral range

Eight memebers of our chapter will attend the 3rd International Student Chapter Meeting that will take place in Wroclaw (Poland) between 7-10 May, 2008.

The following presentations will be presented at this meeting:

1. White light interferometery for height artifact calibration specimen

2. Traceable measurement of lateral calibrators for nanoscale observation instruments

3. Vibrations mode viewing with DSPI

4. Thin Films of metal-organic complex systems deposited by MAPLE (Matrix Assisted Pulsed Laser Evaporation)

5. Versatile spectroscopic ellipsometry to characterize various material thin films: Principle and application

6. Fourier transform digital holography

7. Structural and spectroscopical characterization of RE3+ (RE = Er, Eu, Tb) doped nanocrystaline YAG/YVO4 produced by a sol-gel method/ precipitation method

8. Femtosecond laser processing of polymers using two-photon photopolimerization technique

During the INDLAS Conference, held in Bran (Romania) between 20-23 May 2008 the Romanian Student Chapter Meeting is intended to take place.

On 20-24 October, 2003 three members of our Chapter participated at the International Conference for Students, Young Scientists and Engineers on optics in Sankt Petersburg.

In September 5-6, 2003 our Chapter participated in the organisation of ROMOPTO Conference held in Constanta, Romania.
